Tuesday Memes

Tuesday Twosome:

1. Two nicknames that friends and family call me:

Fred (only Lisa, aka "AL" calls me that though), Lovebug (only Randy)

2. Two items of clothing I would never get rid of:
High School Prom dress, my DLI sweatshirt (it's an awful yellow color and I'll never wear it, but it's one of the only things I have left from my time there)

3. Two movies that I can watch over and over again:
Irving Berlin's "White Christmas" and An Affair to Remember.

4. Two people that have influenced me the most:
Sharon Snyder (a friend who renewed my self-esteem with hers), My family (can't narrow it down to one...all of my siblings and parents have had a profound impact on who I am today)

5. Two goals/dreams I hope to fulfill in my lifetime:
To be thin again, to travel abroad.

10 on Tuesday:
10 Favorite Movies from Your Childhood

This is a tough one, as we didn't watch many movies when I was little, so most will be from my teen years (I'm sure I'm missing many of my very favorites, but these are just what I'm thinking of at the moment):

1) The Breakfast Club
2) Pretty in Pink
3) Sixteen Candles
4) Escape To Witch Mountain (and Return From Witch Mountain)
5) Best Little Whorehouse in Texas
6) Kiss Me Goodbye
7) Airplane
8) Back to the Future
9) Seven Alone (1 of 2 I remember seeing at the theater as a child)
10) Love at First Bite (" ")

I can't believe you would resort to nicknames that only one person in the world calls you, when everyone knows your REAL NICKNAME has always been KAT-BUG!

Tuesday Twosome:

1. Two nicknames that friends and family call me:

Teen-teener weiner and CC (actually, no one uses nicknames with me presently, but these two were the most widely used...CC was an acronym for Crazy Christine...I'm not that crazy anymore)

2. Two items of clothing I would never get rid of:

Okay, I'm not sentimental about clothes, so I will instead be practical here and say my bra and my underwear.

3. Two movies that I can watch over and over again:

The Sound of Music and The Scarlet Pimpernel

4. Two people that have influenced me the most:

Jesus Christ and my immediate family (at various phases of my life...most notably:both parents, Walter and my son David)

5. Two goals/dreams I hope to fulfill in my lifetime:

Travel to foreign countries and be able to converse in their languages, and someday open up a learning center of sorts with hands-on education for youths and/or disabled kids so they can see how fun and practical it can be to learn.

10 Favorite Movies from Your Childhood

1) Star Wars (and Empire Strikes Back)
2) Jeremiah Johnson
3) Herbie the Lovebug (and ...Rides Again)
4) Freaky Friday
5) Seven Alone
6) Disney Animation: Bambi & Cinderella
7) Mary Poppins
8) Chitty-Chitty Bang Bang
9) The Wizard of Oz
10) The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams

Of course, who can forget the movies shown in school: The Ten Cow Woman, A Day in the Life of Bonnie Consolo, Hot Lead and Cold Feet, and Love at First Bite. I also recall watching The Shining as a kid (though not at school)...super scarey, "Red Rum, Red Rum".

Actually, now that I'm looking at the question I notice it says FAVORITE movies...so The wizard of Oz would definitely have to come off... I never liked that movie much. I think most of the best musicals like Seven Brides, Oklahoma, The King and I, Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, South Pacific, etc., all were viewed in adulthood and that's why they're not noted here.

Great movie list. You know I've never seen the entire movie chitty-chitty bang bang - in fact I always get it confused with bednobs and broomsticks even though one is about a car and the other is a bed. LOL

Oh yes...the Herbie movies! We loved those as kids. I thought about Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, but couldn't remember when I'd first watched it since we watch it all the time now.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - that brings back a memory or two

i like the opening a learning center idea how noble and needed

Tell me and I forget, teach me and I learn, but involve me and I remember. Benjamin Franklin

Oh, I love that quote, frog! That's a very true statement, and one to always keep in mind. Thanks for posting it!
